Join Ranger Dan Bylin on a 1.5 mile hike as we explore the old hunting grounds of the California grizzly bear. This bear was at one time the most dominant creature in the state but vanished forever in the early 1900s. We will talk about the bear's habits and behaviors and how different California cultures dealt with the big bruin's presence. Come along with us as we hike under 300 year old oak trees that experienced grizzlies foraging under their canopies. Meet in the Old Borges Ranch parking lot in Shell Ridge Open Space.
