UPDATE: The City of Walnut Creek is now live with our new Online Permit Portal!
Striving to improve the permitting application process and increase communications with our customers we are pleased to announce our New Online Permit Portal.
As of Friday, April 5th, 2024, the City of Walnut Creek no longer accepts paper OR emailed Building Permit submittals – ALL permit types are accepted via the Online Permit Portal.
Homeowners and contractors can easily apply for permits, track status updates, and request and confirm inspections, all on the same digital platform.
For guidance about our new streamlined permitting process, please watch our How-To videos for more information.

Make an in-person appointment
The permit counter is open to the public for in-person customer service. We have an online scheduling system that allows you to make an appointment without physically waiting in City Hall. This prevents people from congregating in the waiting area and is also more convenient for you.
Learn about completing your permit process online or call (925) 943-5834 for help.
