There are two water utilities that serve the City of Walnut Creek– East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) and Contra Costa Water District (CCWD). Residential Water Conservation
In Walnut Creek, outdoor water use by households is the greatest opportunity for water reduction. While the City does not offer a rebate program, both water utilities serving residents (EBMUD and CCWD) have resources and programs to help residents convert their lawns to drought tolerant plants.

East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) water conservation rebates: EBMUD offers several different rebates to residents, including up to $2,000 for residents who modernize their gardens by converting their lawn area to space for low-water plants. The rebate amount is currently at an all-time high of $1.25- $2.50 per square foot, so if you're interested in conserving water, a precious resource in California, and saving money, now is the time to make the switch!
