Heritage Volunteer
Share your passion for the past as a docent at the historic Borges Ranch in Shell Ridge. You will greet visitors, conduct history tours for school age children, answer questions, and provide information about the Open Space. Open Space staff will provide an in-depth orientation on the historic site and the Open Space. Docents are asked to work a minimum of two, 2.5 hour shifts per month during the months of September - May, coinciding with the typical school year.
Trail Crew
Get out there and get involved with trail maintenance and construction, cleanup projects, and other important maintenance activities. These hands on activities take place outdoors in a variety of working conditions. Open Space staff work closely with the trail crew and provide tools and training. The Trail Crew will work throughout the Open Space on selected days during the week and on weekends.
Volunteer Patrol
Hit the trail and become an ambassador for the Open Space. Talk with visitors about Open Space rules, trail use and etiquette, general information, and monitor trail conditions. Open Space Rangers will coordinate and provide support with the patrol. The Volunteer Patrol is asked to work a minimum of two, four hour shifts per month throughout the week.
On Site Volunteer
Help out at your favorite Open Space area as an On Site Volunteer. You will assist staff with most aspects of daily operations including general maintenance, landscaping, basic carpentry, and trail work. Open Space staff will provide training and help on a variety of projects. On Site Volunteers are asked to work a minimum of two, four hour shifts per month throughout the week.
