About
This is an innovative program that uses education as a tool to increase awareness as part of the Walnut Creek Neighborhood Streets Program. The Pace Car Program is modeled after similar programs that have been successfully implemented in other U.S. cities. Residents can pledge to drive courteously and obey the speed limit. Pledging participants receive a badge to display on their vehicle. Each participant in the program adds to the solution of safer neighborhood streets. Higher participation in a neighborhood will help make safer streets a reality.

Goal
The goal of the Neighborhood Streets Program is to improve quality of life and mobility for all. Cooperation from residents is essential to finding a sustainable way to improve traffic safety.
The Pace Car Program uses cars to slow other cars, encouraging motorists to abide by existing laws. Every Pace Car driver actively sets the speed for other cars.
The success of the Pace Car Program depends on every participant treating the program with respect and being responsible for their driving.
