Matt Francois was first elected to the City Council in November 2018, and re-elected in 2022. He also served as Mayor in 2022. He is a 20-plus year resident of Walnut Creek, father of two children, a community volunteer and a land use attorney. He served on the Planning Commission from 2007 to 2018, and on the Transportation Commission from 2006 to 2007.
He graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in History, and received his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1995.
