How to Provide Public Comment

All City Council, Committee and Commission meetings have re-opened for in-person attendance.

Looking to provide public comment at an upcoming City Council/Commission meeting? Public comments can be provided in-person or via written public comment. Please see the updated information below for details on how to make a public comment and how to view the meetings live.

The City of Walnut Creek has fully resumed “in-person” public meetings under the Brown Act. Members of the public desiring to provide public comments at a meeting may attend “in-person” or provide written comments at least two (2) hours prior to the meeting.

In-Person Public Comments

If you wish to address the Council or Commission, please complete a Speaker Identification Card at the meeting and present it to the City Clerk or Recording Secretary before speaking. Completion of the card is voluntary, but is especially helpful for correct spelling for the public record.

  • Speakers will be asked to provide their name and city of residence.
  • All individual speakers will be afforded the same time period to make public comments. The time period established by the Mayor for public comments is currently 2 minutes per individual speaker.
  • Speakers will be asked to wait for their opportunity to provide public comment.
  • All remarks shall be addressed to the Council/Commission as a body and not to any individual member.
  • Please approach the lectern, speak clearly into the microphone, state your name and your city of residence in an audible tone of voice for the record.

Written Public Comments

Members of the public are welcome to submit written comments prior to the meeting. Comments should be submitted by email to PublicComments@walnut-creek.org (or via mail sent to: City Clerk's Office, 1666 North Main Street, Walnut Creek, CA  94596).
